Since this weekend is our studio's dance recital, I will be away from my laptop until further notice.
Recovery time varies - so it could be a few days folks.
Just wanted to share a good laugh with you all until I return.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Pray for me..

Oh how time flies

Welp. The long weekend is just about to commence folks.

Sad. But true.

Today we enjoyed marching in a little parade, I watched boyfriend help a buddy with his truck, we had a picnic with the family and I taught dance. It was a pretty fabulous day. It was hot hot hot, but still very enjoyable and very muchly appreciated. And tomorrow I go back to work, and boyfriend goes back to school.

After today, I am really looking forward to more celebrations and the summer goodies (as I like to call them, like the beach, campfires, picnics, road trips.) God bless boyfriend for agreeing to go to school all summer long - with the exception of one week off, he'll be there Monday thru Friday till sometime in October. There's no way I'd give my summer up for homework and lectures.. but to each his own, and I guess when it's something you love, you'll do pretty much whatever it takes. Kudos boyfriend. Plus, he'll only have been in school for one year total. So I still have him beat with four. So HA!

I hope you had a lovely long weekend. Please take time to remember what Memorial Day is all about and appreciate the lives that were given up in order for us to live ours.

Much love.

May your weekend be filled with cuddles & stuff

Weekly Gratitude

2.26.2011

The only thing I can truly be grateful for this week is
being alive
This week has been filled with many ups & downs. Today I am simply thankful to be breathing, walking & seeing for one more day. Rest in Peace JP & DS. You will be deeply missed..

Songwriters: Chesney, Kenneth A.; Dillon, Dean; Tamburino, Mark;
 Featuring: Dave Matthews Band

So damn easy to say that life's so hard
Everybody's got their share of battle scars
As for me, I'd like to thank my lucky stars
That I'm alive and well

It'd be easy to add up all the pain
And all the dreams you sat and watched go up in flames
Dwell on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain
But not me, I'm alive

And today you know that's good enough for me
Breathin' in and out's a blessing, can't you see?
Today's the first day of the rest of my life
And I'm alive and well
I'm alive and well

Stars are dancin' on the water here tonight
It's good for the soul when there's not a soul in sight
This boat has caught its wind and brought me back to life
Now I'm alive and well

And today you know that's good enough for me
Breathing in and out's a blessing, can't you see?
Today's the first day of the rest of my life
Now I'm alive and well
Yeah, I'm alive and well

 What are you grateful for?

Happy Weekend friends!

Weekly Gratitude

2.04.2011

Usually I post my weekly "thankgodIhavethisinmylife" lists on Saturdays. But bright and early tomorrow morning (like 5:30am bright and early!), I will be venturing off to Plymouth New Hampshire with my mom and sister. Plymouth University has invited Eclipse Modern Dance Company, the company that I am a part of, to take master classes during the day and perform in their Gala Show Saturday night. It's super exciting.. except for one tiny thing: HELLOOOO New England! Surprise Surprise! Snow/sleet/ice/winter MESS is going to fall from the sky. Go figure. Luckily we will be in my mom's car which is better than the other possible vehicles we could be traveling in. (Please cross your fingers/toes/arms for us to make it there and back safely).

So in any case, here is my list of gratitude:
the smell of lavender
massages
boyfriend's sense of humor and the fact that we can be goofy together
card games
homemade french toast made on snow days
huge cups of tea
clean laundry
trucks that can pull other trucks out of snow banks
girl scout cookies
my make-shift craft table/desk under the window
new slippers

 INSOMNIATIC THOUGHTS;

Happy Friday
Have a great weekend blog friends! Stay warm!

hello sunday.. it's nice to see you

1.23.2011

It's noon and boyfriend is still sleeping. Usually I stare at him from the side of the bed, poking his cute little face, probably completely annoying the heck out of him, hoping that my glare will motivate him to leave the warm cocoon. But who am I kidding? If I could, I would stay there as long as possible too. So, for now I will go about my day waiting for him to slowly make his way among the living, so that we may enter the wonderful Sunday mode that we enjoy so much.. which includes, but isn't limited to:
reading, watching movies, making and eating food, napping, sipping coffee all day, playing with the kitty, wearing sweats, minor organizing, chores (believe it or not, we actually like doing these kinds of things together), more eating, more napping, goofing around, mixed with the slightest bit of productiveness (work related that is).

What makes your Sunday so great? Or not so great? I remember as a high schooler I dreaded Sundays. Especially around 4pm. By then you had to start preparing for the school week ahead. Doing whatever homework you put off, which totally takes up a huge junk of the wonderful Sunday afternoon. I remember an unsettled feeling that would linger for most of the day, because I knew what was coming.. what a bummer. And talk about completely ruining what now is one of my most favoritest days ever!

These would be the most perfect treat for a Sunday afternoon = ]

Happy Sunday Friends!

kittys are a lady's best friend

11.23.2010

funny/scary things that have happened since Amber kitty has moved back in with us:
[since May, she has been living with my parents - I went to NYC and then started living with the boyfriend, so we wanted to give it some time for us to get settled into our routines before introducing her to her possibly fourth home.]

Upon exploring her new home, she found Dana's grand piano.. from the other room we heard a few lovely notes, followed by her sweet, but surprised meowing voice.
While brushing my teeth Sunday night, she ventured into the bathroom behind me (for those of you who know my cat, she follows me everywhere) however, she had yet to explore it since she'd been there. She hopped up next to me, sat on the toilet seat and began staring into the giant mirror that takes up the entire length of the bathroom. Before I could stop her, she perched into her pouncing stance, wiggled her bottom and "boom" into the mirror she flew. And with the same amount of force she put into going through the mirror, she experienced on the way down - landing on and knocking over bottles of shampoo, our jar of stones with incense and other various items that were resting on the back of the toilet. Everything went everywhere. And Amber was gone faster than the whole thing happened. Think of the most shy and skidish cat that you know. Then multiply that by a thousand. That is Amber. So now you can imagine her reaction to slamming into the mirror when she thought she could go through it. No worries though. She was unharmed and back to her normal shelf in a matter of minutes.
Our tiny seven pound cat has managed to crawl into every kook and cranny since her arrival. After only an hour or so, she had gone behind and under all of our furniture cleaning out our dust bunnies and cobwebs. Don't worry babe, we don't need to dust - Amber's got that job covered!
The night she came home with us, we sat on the bed watching her explore. In the bedroom, Dana has a clothes closet, minus the door. There is a rod that he hangs all his shirts from, then two shelves above that (for perspective reasons, let me tell you that the shelves are too high for me to reach). So when she stood in front of the closet looking up at the highest shelf, I started to panic. What if she falls onto your shoe rack? She's going to get hurt.. Amber.. don't do it.. Dana.. that's not a good idea.. omgomgomg.. here she goes.. oh no.. omgomgomg. And of course she did it. My cat is amazing. Why did you even doubt her. So now, her new favorite spot is on the highest shelf, way back in the corner, on top of Dana's jeans. I swear she's part flying squirrel.
She has managed to lose the only two non-noise-making toys that I could find after the move. I've got to find something to keep her occupied during the day so that she doesn't sleep while we're gone and play while we're asleep. I'd love and appreciate any ideas you have ; )

Here's an older my favorite picture of her. I have some more recent ones but have yet to upload them. It's on my list of "things to blog about/email to people/do in general" though. I promise.

Needless to say - she's my favorite thing today! [and yesterday, and the day before that, and that, and that..]
