How flippin' amazing is that?! I can't stop watching it and have been showing e v e r y o n e.. including the kitty. She started taking lessons in backwards fabric dancing cause she was so inspired.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend. I know that I've got a long one ahead of me with performing, rehearsing with my students, packing for my trip (!!!) and other miscellaneous things.

Weekend Inspiration

5.18.2012

>> I'll be off dancing all weekend so it is totally fitting that I post this today <<

There is an infinite number beautiful and magical things here that make me appreciative for movement and how we are able to connect with people without using words. There is something about being in that moment that captivates you and forces you to think deeper about life, people and most importantly, who you are. I've watched this over and over and every time I'm more inspired to reach beyond my simple self. I hope that you're inspired to dig deeper too.

When in doubt

..be cute & make up your own words.

WARNING: parts of this video are a bit loud, so do your ears a favor and lower the volume a smidge.

Have a happy Wednesday! So close to Friday & my birthday weekend.

Perfectly Perfect

One of my most favoritest scenes from Singing In The Rain. Couldn't be more perfect for this rainy Sunday.

How to teach a complete stranger to dance

4.19.2012

Last Friday, a few of our dancers performed at a Falcons Hockey game. I choreographed a short number (to be performed in a 15 ft x 15 ft concrete area.. eek.) and the girls danced between the periods while people replenished their beer and grabbed hot dogs. I was a little nervous about it since we were newbies to the event, but it was pretty entertaining. And you're about to see what I mean.

Side note:
-- we were set up across from a food stand; this is one of their employees.
-- this was not when people we actually watching us. A few of them just wanted to practice instead of watching the game. Those are my girls!

Introducing..
OUR BABY CHICKS

They are about a week old and starting to grow their, what I call, big bird feathers.
If you've ever had baby chicks, then you know about the endless list of cuteness.

like..

how they stretch their legs, the way the fall asleep,
how they tilt their heads back to drink the water,
how they poop and pee in your hand (every.single.time.you.hold.them.),
they way they try to flap their itty bitty wings,
and the sweet way they peep and chirp at their sisters when they walk on their heads or wake them up.

So happy that we got them just in time for Easter! Now we just have a couple weeks to build our coop. They grow quickly so they will be out of their box in no time!

Enjoy the weekend friends!

If you wonder why..

3.15.2012

If you ever wonder why I dance, it is because I experience something like this.
Feeling this way is an addiction.
It is gorgeous.
And for a moment, I'm untouchable.

Awkward and Awesome

2.09.2012

{Easter 2009}

Awkward

Every time I try to use an italicized apostrophe in blogger it looks like this ' when I'm creating the post and like this ' when I publish it. Thoughts?!

About every other day we get a piece of mail for the people that lived here before us. They moved out about a year and a half ago. Get it together US Postal Service.

The amount of times I've blown my nose in the past two days. Ouch.

Getting in the car to go to work and realizing that my gas light is on. Crossing my fingers that I can make it to the gas station, cause I'm pretty sure the reserve holds less than the amount that it will take for me to get to the closest one.

Parts of the Madonna performance. Like when she was trying to dance.

When the cat kneads my butt while I'm sleeping. Uhh.. a little higher please.

Videos from four years ago.. enough said.

Awesome

Today is Dad's Birthday! (See below) Happy Birthday Daddy!

My best friend's pulled pork. Delicious.

Live with Kelly's Bachelor Theatre. Why watch The Bachelor when I can watch this?!

The blanket that I just finished crocheting. See?!

The coversation between boyfriend and I after I had told him how much money
I was getting back on my taxes:
Me: "I don't remember the last time I had that much money."
Him: "Good, because we need coffee."
Me: "Ha Ha. I'll get some tomorrow. Can we make it to tomorrow?"

How much money I'm getting back on my taxes.

How many times I typed "taxis" instead of "taxes" while writing this post.

.. and we still don't know why the chicken(s) crossed the road

Our neighboring town, Greenfield MA made it on to The Ellen Degeneres Show!

In the Spirit

12.13.2011

Just so you all know -- my boyfriend and I have this routine perfected. We're planning on busting it out Christmas Day for everyone. We'll be sure to tape it and you better believe we'll be wearing the same costumes!
; )

good things do come..

12.05.2011

.. eventually. I swear!
Although it's been rough over here lately, it's starting to look like my persistence might pay off. I'm sure you're wondering what I'm talking about. Well, I would love to share but I'm a little superstitious and I'm afraid I'll jinx it if I officially share my good news with the world, since things are still kind of in the works. Don't worry friends. Good things come to those who wait.. meaning all of you..

have to wait.

However - I am willing to give a few hints: it doesn't have anything to do with a pretty shiny thing that goes on a certain finger, or winning the lottery. But it does have something to do with Handmade by Nicole and crocheting and something that ballerinas use. So until everything is final.. that's all I'm going to say.

Oh! And here's a funny video that I didn't share in my Thanksgiving Day post.
Enjoy : ) & Happy Monday!

Some Super Cute Super Bass

I couldn't think of a better way to kick off my weekend, than with this video.
 Happy Friday!

More from Irene

8.30.2011

Some of our footage from Sunday, August 28th, 2011. This was taken at about 1:00pm on the Stillwater Bridge, before it was closed off. Warning: the video below contains some inappropriate language. What can we say?! We were a little stunned, scared, & genuinely freaked out. Especially since we've never seen something like this before.

The bridge at the end of our road, after it was closed. Basically connects us to the rest of the town.

Notice the house that is almost, completely submerged.

A pumpkin patch.

Luckily, we live high enough and far enough, from the river to not have directly suffered from any of Irene's flooding. Others were not so fortunate. Please pray of everyone on the east coast who has been forced out of their homes and communities. I know that it will be months before the mud and debris is washed away completely, and their homes are safe to live in.

"I just.. really love cats.."

 Meanwhile, back on plant Earth..

--> I'm half way through teaching my week long dance intensive. I wish I could do this every week! The girls are really impressing & inspiring me (learning four dances in only four days!). Tomorrow we're taking a trip to Jacob's Pillow to see Continuum Contemporary Ballet on the Inside/Out stage. Pictures to come!

Cars, stunts and flames up the wazoo

7.03.2011

Because I love my boyfriend.

And my boyfriend loves cars. This weekend, we ventured off to New England's Largest Car Show, Summer Nationals in Worcester, MA. The nice thing about our relationship is that we enjoy doing things for each other (believe it or not). He sits through my dance performances (god bless him), and I walk down the never-ending tool isles with him. So when he found out about a giant car-fest only an hour away.. oh you know we were registered faster than you can say Bugatti. Honestly, we had no idea what to expect when we signed up for this. Except cars, of course.. oh yeah, and beer. But apparently it's more than that. All rules of the road are null amd void on a weekend like this. Trucks with flat rear tires (result of a burnout), uh drive down the street.. like nobody's business. Four wheelers, I guess, are road legal?! And  e v e r y  motorcycle does at least a mile long wheelie down the street. Ha. Yeah. I'd say that's an equation for a pretty entertaining couple days.

Again, let me repeat.. I love my boyfriend.
Here's a smidgen of what we went to see.. and saw.
---
Burnouts.
Definition: Spinning the back tires (usually ones that are in not-so-good condition), by using the brakes only enough to keep the car still, and completely flooring it. Don't stop till they pop!
My definition: an excuse for making the place reek of burning rubber.
Watch out for the flying pieces of tire.. we found out that it's impossible to get off your face!

---
Motorcycle Stunts.
For the people in this world who have gone completely bonkers.
Definition: Trained professionals doing the most insane things you could possibly imagine, on motorcycles. Doing anywhere from 40-70 MPH. Mind you, this is only a tiny clip from the hour + we spent watching them. Other stunts included standing straight up on the bike - while it's going  i n c r e d i b l y  f a s t ..and head stands.. obviously on a moving motorcycle going fast... Real fast. How else would you do a headstand?!

Nope. I'm totally not joking.
See?!

---
Ginormous-flame shooting cars.
Definition: Uhh. Holy. Hotness.

---
I'm sure we'll be going back next year. And, yeah you read that correctly.. I said we. Although, I'm sure it's hard for all of you to imagine ME having a good time at something like this.. I do have somewhat of a.. I don't know, "boy-ish", "car-lover", "need-for-speed" side to me. Call it whatever you want. Really, I could be doing anything in the world, as long as I'm with him and I'd be totally happy and content. Oh. So corny.. queue the "awes" and gagging noises. Yeah. Whatever. Don't judge.

I hope all of you are having a lovely long holiday weekend. And for those of you who aren't in the U.S., have a cookout or at least a slice of watermelon and celebrate life and all the wonderful things in it.

Happy Birthday America!

My dad calls me squeaker. Mom prefers daredevil.

Taaa daaa!
Easy peasy lemon squeezy. I don't know what she's so worried about. We always land on our feet.
Except for when.. we don't.

I'm off to cuddle with my human. Later friends!

My first kitty-video diary!

5.11.2011

Hello friends. I'm taking time out of my busy kitty-day to share my first diary entry with you.
Here's what I've been up to lately: licking myself, chasing the ants, scratching the furniture, sleeping, getting into everything and carrying my new toy all over the house.. (I think Mommy calls it a bouncy ball). Yup. I carry it in my mouth.

But today!! I discovered something incredible. I just wanted to go out and play.. but no one seems to understand me around here.

See ya later friends.. I'm off to nap, or find my bouncy ball.
