My favorite DIY's (To-do)

Welp. Welcome to Monday.

You're probably just as thrilled as I am.

So how 'bout you take a second and check out some of these DIY projects!

Some of them look pretty darn easy if you ask me. And they would all make for wonderful gifts, I'm sure.

It's the end of the week.

And I am pooped.

Today will consist of odds + ends around the house, large glasses of lemonade, being followed by the chickens, having friends over for dinner on the grill + a campfire.

 I'm looking forward to lots of time with the boy and to some cooler weather.

What I made v.1

I've decided to start a new series here on Nicole in the Making called What I made. A way for me to keep track of things that I've made from various projects I find online. I have a board on pinterest specifically for DIY, but have a hard time actually completing any of them. But today is a new day folks -- And believe it or not, I've actually done something on  my "someday list".

One of my best friends sent me an image this morning with the text: "I want/think you should make these and of so I will totally buy one!" Challenge accept friend. Challenge accepted. Shortly after, I tried it and voilà! Project numero uno.

Sometimes when I'm feeling a little down, I take a peek at this wonderful lady's board on pinterest and I am instantly giggling. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We got some tasks on our to-do list completed and still had time to play fetch with the kitty and drink beer.
I really wish Monday didn't have to come..

Monday inspiration for the home

It's Monday. I've got my pumpkin pie coffee (absolutely delicious), sunshine coming through the windows, and an itty bitty workout completed.

We've lived in our house for seven months already. It's hard to believe. Boyfriend and I were talking about it the other day. Sometimes it feels like we've been together in this house for all our lives. And other times, it seems like it's been only a few weeks. Once you come in and take a look around our boldly painted home, you realize that we are still struggling in the decor department. I say we, but I really mean me because he could really care less. I'm a very "do-it-yourself-er" so I am always looking for inspiration. The only problem is, I seem to like  e v e r y t h i n g  I find on pinterest and other design and decor blogs. How do I filter it down to ideas that will really, truly work for our home? I have a hard time convincing myself that my home will never look like the photographs. HELP!!

I guess too much inspiration is better than too little, or even worse, none at all... With that said, here are some of my most recent favorites.

My Awkward & Awesome Thursday

Today I am a step closer. To my first dance recital as a dance teacher. To starting a new chapter in my life. To a healthier life style. To a better me.

And what better way to share all the chaotic and exciting things going on in my life, than an awkward and awesome post! Happy Thursday everyone!

the A W K W A R D S

- waking up at midnight after I've been asleep on the couch for at least an hour, totally confused and angry about where I am, what time it is, and why my boyfriend has left me there, instead of carrying me to bed.

- run on sentences.

- watching a bird fly into the sliding glass door.

- laughing at the people who fell off the stage on America's Got Talent. Clearly, they haven't any.

- being excited for some of my dance classes to  f i n a l l y  be over, while wishing others wouldn't end.

- 99 degree weather + sundresses  + getting out of the car with leather seats. If you catch my drift.

the A W E S O M E S

- being able to devote my days to making jewelry and my nights to teaching dance.

- finally feeling like I'm satisfied with my life and the direction it's headed.

- the feeling I had this past week after driving completely out of my way to donate items to the tornado victims.

- new music on my iPod.

- impressing boyfriend with my ability to ride my bike four miles - might I remind you avid bike-riders, unimpressed with this.. I haven't rode a bike since I was twelve.

- watching my dance students "perform" the dances that they made up on the last day of class, with huge smiles on their faces.

- MY NEW SEWING MACHINE!

- Q.T. with my momma!
