And here we are again friends. Finally Friday. My day off. Sort of.

This morning I woke up with a subtle beam of sun light coming through my window. Like the world was gently saying, Nicole my beauty, it's time to wake up.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend doing whatever it is that you do on the weekends. I will be teaching dance, celebrating a friend's birthday and hopefully catching up on things around the house.

See you on Monday!

Happy Weekend + Winner

This weekend is going to be.. something else. Not only am I fighting a mean sinus infection (not sure if that's even what I have anymore, since I've taken antibiotics for the last ten days and haven't noticed a difference), but I'm teaching dance, attending a wedding reception and going to a bat mitzvah! Let's see if I survive. Luckily Sunday promises some relaxation and a whole lot of nothing. Hopefully I can kick this nasty thing and get back to being my energetic, productive, awesome-feeling self.

And a big thanks everyone who entered the 150 follower giveaway! And the winner is...

Yay Alex! Send me a quick email --> nicoleinthemaking(at)gmail(dot)com so I can send you your bracelet! Congratulations!

Hello lovely peeps.

I hope you all had sweet long weekend. I spent some time at the dance studio signing up the kiddos for dance classes (which start this week -- ahhh!), took a picnic lunch and a sweet little girl to Mt. Sugarloaf, ate delicious fair food while watching the demolition derby and visited with the best friend and her husband. It was such a warm and sunny weekend. Perfect for being outside!

Annnnnd... we got two ducks.
More on them later..

See ya!

In just a couple hours, I'll be headed to Boston for three days. Our dance company is performing in the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, so if you're in the area you should come! I'm so excited to be performing alongside some amazing artists and even catching up with some long lost friends!

Have a great weekend everyone. I'll be back sometime next week to tell you all about it!

  Confidence is key!

It's the end of the week.
And I am pooped.
Today will consist of odds + ends around the house, large glasses of lemonade, being followed by the chickens, having friends over for dinner on the grill + a campfire.
I'm looking forward to lots of time with the boy and to some cooler weather.

I'll be back Monday. Have a lovely weekend!

Saturday night was my best friend's bachelorette party. Dinner, drinks, high heels + laughing so hard our faces hurt. I made her a sash (pictured above) to wear and another bridesmaid brought a veil for her. It was the perfect night.

^  ^  ^  ^  ^
Sunday we slept in a bit, did some chores, played with the chickens and FOUND OUR FIRST EGG! We haven't built nesting boxes yet because we really weren't expecting them for another month or so, but I guess we should get on that. Since we didn't know how long the egg had been there, we composted it (don't want to be eating rotten eggs now, do we?!) but this morning, I knew to check and there was another egg in the shavings! I washed it and have started a carton for our free-range eggs! For now I think that there is only one chicken laying, so I hope the others catch on soon. Can't wait to try the eggs. I hear they are absolutely delicious + and as bright as the sun.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Stay cool.

I was pretty terrible at taking photos this weekend. Which I'm sort of okay with - because that gave me more time to enjoy the long, hot days and cool nights. We took advantage of our fire pit and spent as much time as possible working in the yard or driving around with the top down. My idea of a perfect weekend off. Although I did do a little work in the etsy shop.. check out the redesigned heart rings & toe rings! I hope you all enjoyed the weekend! Today I start teaching summer dance classes and I couldn't be happier. Enjoy your Monday!

What's on your weekend bucket list? Do share!

take me back

6.18.2012

Oh how I'm wishing I could go back to the weekend. I belong there indefinitely.

The past two days were for campfires + s'mores, sleeping in, laughing till we couldn't breath, family, driving with the windows down, staying up late, drinking pineapple soda, make s'mores in the oven at midnight**, enjoying the cool breeze, painting my nails, hugging, kissing + dancing in the kitchen.

** can you tell we have a couple of sweet tooth's in the house?
What was your weekend for?

Things to come.

5.31.2012

It's just another day over here. Woke up. Drank some hot coffee. Checked on my sweet birdies. Folded laundry. Checked emails. Refreshed twitter and facebook a thousand + times. The usual.

This weekend is a big one. Saturday is my very best friend's bridal shower. And I can't say too much because every once in a while she reads this here blog. So ha ha sweetie. You won't find any hints about your shower here. You'll just have to wait. I'm so excited for her and can't wait to see all of her friends and family this weekend. It's all about you dear! Enjoy.

Sunday is my baby sister's college graduation & then a party at our house. Another occasion to be dressing up. And you'll never hear me complain about wearing a flowy dress and cute heels. I'm so very proud of her. She has worked really hard the past two years and I hope that she is able to recognize all of her accomplishments and be thoroughly happy for herself. She deserves that.

So before I have the chance to waste any more time dilly dallying I better get going on my "for the weekend" to-do list. I'm going to turn up the music, open the windows and get to work. Be ready to hear all about the craziness on Monday!

Happy Thursday loves.

Scenes from the weekend

4.02.2012

Most All of my weekend was spent at our first dance competition of the season. I couldn't have been more proud of my students. They did a fabulous job but more importantly, they enjoyed themselves and showed so much love and enthusiasm for what they do up on that stage. And that's really what its about..

Other than that, I spent every spare second that I had playing with the baby chicks. They are growing quickly and becoming more friendly with us. I've found ways to trick them into coming into my hand. Like putting their food in the palm of my hand. For whatever reason, they go completely bananas over it. It's the same food that is in their box, yet for some reason they act like they've been starved for the entire week of their lives.

And now for a busy week ahead. Momma's birthday is Friday, so I've got a little planning to do. The opening of mormor is on Saturday (!!!!) and I've got lots of caring and prepping to do for my little ones. This morning, we were joking about how Dana lives in a house with eight ladies. Lucky him.

Enjoy your Monday everyone.

Our Weekend

2.20.2012

Kitty cuddles -- she absolutely loves the blanket that I crocheted a couple weeks ago. So precious.
My favorite valentine candies -- luckily boyfriend doesn't really go crazy over them, so I don't have to share.
Jenga pyramids -- tell me that after you play, you don't build things like this too?!
Lots of puzzle doing -- mom & dad gave us two puzzles for V-day so we indulged this weekend. Solid boyfriend-girlfriend bonding time.

We also had a sleepover, made the most delicious beef stew, visited with some family over a homemade spaghetti and meatball lunch and had a financial summit. You know, like the ones that the big shot politicians have. We stuck our six month goals and year-from-now goals on the fridge in hopes that it will motivate us. This is the first time we've done this, so we'll see how it goes. Do you find that seeing your goals everyday helps you achieve them?

Happy Weekend!

afternoon surprise

11.28.2011

It's not every day that you see a hot air balloon floating by your living room window. But yesterday was one of those days. It was so close that we could hear the fire shooting up into the balloon.
A lovely way to end our productive Thanksgiving weekend.
What did you do this weekend? We saw an awful lot of Christmas trees on car roofs yesterday. Did you get yours? We're going to sport a little fake tree this year. It will fit nicely in our bay window.
New house = new traditions!

Happy Monday!

Weekend laughs

11.20.2011

My parents never did this to me and I am very thankful for that. Cause a joke like this is just plain old cruel.
However, watching a freakout like this once your an adult, might be good for a couple laughs.

I hope these kids find it funny once they're older.
But for now, I think they are totally fine with hating their parents.

Weekend love

10.24.2011

Quality time with the Sisters (above) -- laughing and stuffing our faces with baked potatoes and homemade chili.

Birthday celebrations -- my Uncle turned the big 5 0 !

Smore-making -- in a mini muffin pan.. best things ever! I think I ate them all. And then I blamed the empty container on boyfriend.

Hair cuts -- this was a first for him and I. Not the actually hair cutting of course, but going together. It's pretty convenient.

Movie night -- "Dinner for Schmucks", one of those movies you love and hate at the same time. Everything goes wrong and you wish the people in the movie could hear you screaming at them.

Errands -- surprisingly fun and entertaining when you're not in a hurry.

Staying up late -- playing Scateorgies. I lost.

Hunting for our Halloween costumes -- only $23 for both of our costumes & all the accessories!

Cozy boots -- decided it was time to get out the sweaters and boots and put away the sandals.

Organizing/cleaning the basement -- our party is only six days away, and we're surprisingly almost ready. That NEVER happens.

Eating & drinking -- Pumpkin coffee, ice cream cake, apple cider & Mom's chili

I wish the weekend stayed forever..

Our Weekend

9.26.2011

-- I made this for our coffee table! Super easy & adds a little more feminine flavor to our living room.
Even boyfriend said he liked it.

-- Sunbathing. Of course. And cat naps on the couch.
Just ignore the bottle in the back. Ha.

-- Baby Shower! My friend, and owner of the dance studio, is having a baby in two months!
Yippee! Can't wait to meet the little guy. He's going to have so many babysitters.
[Dance teacher photo]
We also...
-- took some naps.
-- went grocery shopping (whomp whomp) after completely emptying the fridge and pantry. I swear, we are the best at making meals out of nothing.
-- stayed up super late and had to get up ridiculously early.
-- carpooled to work on Saturday. Boyfriend just got a job as a mechanic at a shop literally, a stone's throw away from the dance studio. It was probably the only time we'll be able to do that, since he'll be working during the day and I teach at night.
-- laughed our butts off while watching Comedy Central and "The Ugly Truth".

So long weekend!

Your weekend

8.13.2011

I hope your weekend is so much fun, that by Sunday afternoon, you're passed out in your sweet yellow dress.

This weekend doesn't hold much in the field of excitement over here, since we most definitely got an overdose of glitter, music, screaming, lights, and animal print last night.

Boyfriend and I went to a concert (LMFAO & Ke$ha) at Mohegan Sun, and I must say, if I had extra money just floating around, I'd be there every weekend. Well, maybe every other weekend. I'd alternate between a secluded, tropical island... and Mohegan Sun.

It's huge. Like really, really big. I was so distracted by the lights, dinging bells from the slot machines.. and all the Ke$ha* wannabes. It's amazing boyfriend didn't loose me in there. I think I just held his hand and let him lead me along while I let my eyes wonder all over the place.

*Let me just say, that we did not buy these tickets because of Ke$ha. Dispite the few songs that I actually own of hers (only because of my beginner hip hop class), I don't really care for her.

We are pretty big LMFAO fans (read this post first, then this one to learn more) and their portion of the concert did not disappoint. So much energy and just... craziness. Gotta see it to believe it kind of thing.

So after a crazy concert experience.. which I would only recommend to those who really want to see a spectacle like no other (Ke$ha and her fans are a breed of their own), I must say that there isn't a better picture to illustrate the rest of my weekend, than the one above.

xoxo

We make a good team; Him & I

8.08.2011

On our Sunday night, we watched the (never-ending) Yankee/Red Sox game &..

Our very own sweet, baby, vinyl tree.

Isn't he precious?!
I drew him.. and boyfriend cut him down. No not literally. With his nifty vinyl cutter.

Together we planted him on our wall.
He's super fabulous.

I can't wait for our friends and family to meet him.
Our living room is almost, halfway started, finished being decorated.
Ha.

Happy Monday lovelies!
