Weekly Gratitude

2.12.2011

At the end of every week [Saturdays] I post a list of things that I am grateful for. Can be anything and everything. Little or big. Serious or silly. Just reminds us to take a look at our lives and cross off the not-so-good-moments and place a big exclamation mark next to the ones that brought us happiness, peace, and love.
Click the link above to join us!

In the last seven days of my life, I have found reason to be grateful for the following things:

Cannoli cake [of course I would list food first].
Birthday's [so that we can eat cannoli cake].
My supportive and loving family.
Boyfriend shoveling the snow off the roof. He.Is.My.Hero. [He's going to be so happy I included this!]
Sleep. Ohhhhh sleep. And naps.. like every day!
Selling my handmade items.
My little ballerina's who come to class in ladybug tutus and tell me they love me.
The assistants in my dance classes. Without them I would lose my brain and just sit on the floor and cry.

Happy Saturday friends - Enjoy your Valentine's [or love stinks] weekend!
xoxoxo

hello sunday.. it's nice to see you

1.23.2011

It's noon and boyfriend is still sleeping. Usually I stare at him from the side of the bed, poking his cute little face, probably completely annoying the heck out of him, hoping that my glare will motivate him to leave the warm cocoon. But who am I kidding? If I could, I would stay there as long as possible too. So, for now I will go about my day waiting for him to slowly make his way among the living, so that we may enter the wonderful Sunday mode that we enjoy so much.. which includes, but isn't limited to:
reading, watching movies, making and eating food, napping, sipping coffee all day, playing with the kitty, wearing sweats, minor organizing, chores (believe it or not, we actually like doing these kinds of things together), more eating, more napping, goofing around, mixed with the slightest bit of productiveness (work related that is).

What makes your Sunday so great? Or not so great? I remember as a high schooler I dreaded Sundays. Especially around 4pm. By then you had to start preparing for the school week ahead. Doing whatever homework you put off, which totally takes up a huge junk of the wonderful Sunday afternoon. I remember an unsettled feeling that would linger for most of the day, because I knew what was coming.. what a bummer. And talk about completely ruining what now is one of my most favoritest days ever!

These would be the most perfect treat for a Sunday afternoon = ]

Happy Sunday Friends!

Carlo's Bake Shop.. Check.

7.17.2010

Yes. The well known bakery from TLC's "Cake Boss." It's in Hoboken, NJ, which is a town over from where we live. It only took us a few minutes to get there & was totally worth the hour we waited in line. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves..
Sorry. I had to. This is for you Dad!
Lisa Gonzalez - Youngest of the Valastro sisters!

We got off the bus at 5:15pm and got right in line. It stretched about a block and although every one else would rather complain [about the heat & supposedly 2 hour wait], we were totally excited! Time passed quickly and we got our tickets. Number 29 & 30. According to if we were paying together or separate. It was just as small inside as I expected it would be, however I couldn't believe how many people they wanted to cram in there. I would have rather waited outside then be pushed up against someone I've never seen before. Anyway. It gave us enough time to squeeze in between people to see all of the goodies. There are no signs to identify each delicious pastry or price tags. I guess once you're in there it doesn't matter how much everything is because they know that you don't want to leave empty handed and that you are going to buy something. Obviously.

This is what I decided to get:
1 cannoli
1 eclair
1 lobster tail [sfogliatella]
If I had known that it was only going to be $8.00 all together, I would have gotten more.
Oh. Well. Guess that means I'll have to go back next weekend : )

A trip to Wonderland!

7.11.2010

I had such a wonderful weekend filled with scrumptious food & lovely friends.
Dana arrived Saturday evening since he had to drive a client to JFK airport, so he decided to make a weekend out of it! After strolling down the streets of Union City, [since he, for some reason, was very intrigued by all the Spanish stores] we decided to take advantage of his transportation and get some dinner.
We ate at Madison Bar & Grill in Hoboken [a ten minute drive] since Christine and her friend Kate said how wonderful it was when they went. I had chicken stuffed with spinach, goat cheese and pancetta with mashed potatoes. I thought it was the best thing I had ever tasted..

Until..

Alice's Tea Cup
Today we took a trip to the Upper West Side of Manhattan to meet our lovely friend Mary Elizabeth. We hadn't seen her since before our graduation, so it was very nice to catch up over the most delicious tea, scones, sandwiches and desserts that I have ever tasted! Here are some of the photos that I took, however you must look at my lovely roommates blog, because she took more than I did : )

YUP. That's my boyfriend..

I've been getting mail from my lovely friends and family. It really makes me happy to receive cute notes and hand drawn pictures : )

Thanks again momma for sending us food & wine. We've almost eaten all the Popsicles already.. haha!

I apologize for this posts' length and lack of detail. I try to take advantage of boyfriend time & therefore my blog is sacrificed. I hope you all understand : )

What did all of you do this weekend? I'd love to hear your exciting summer stories!!

Three amazing weeks left!

One heck of a delicious Friday : )

7.10.2010

One brownie + one crispy, peanut butter, chocolate thing + two marshmallows + one m&m cookie + handful of cheerios + one saltin cracker + two mini hershey bars + two mini snickers + microwave = TheMostDeliciousThingThatIHaveEverTasted.

After a long day of classes, a shower and a nap, Alivia and I decided to make our own concoctions out of anything and everything we had in our apartment. This was mine.

Then we watched The Polar Express and it was wonderful. A great way to end a tiring week. Our bodies knew that it was Friday even before our brains did.

Dana is coming to visit sometime this afternoon. I'm excited to see him! As I always will be : )

My mom sent me a couple books last weekend and I'm about halfway through this one.

It is about a woman in her late twenties holding out for "Mr. Perfect." In the meantime, every one of her friends is getting married, making her a maid of honor for four weddings and a guest at twelve others. It's one of the funniest books I have ever read. I love the author and will probably end up buying more of her books!

What has everyone else chosen for their summer reading? I am always looking for new and interesting books that my friends and family have enjoyed!

Yesterday in our West African class, we learned more about "The Summer Sizzler" at Ailey. It is their summer show and we get to perform : ) I am doing a piece for my West African class - so far it is coming along well [as long as I can remember the steps.]
I get four tickets reserved for the show on Friday, July 30th at 4:30 pm. I have to buy them before July 20th so let me know if you would like to come.
After the 20th, I am able to purchase tickets for the other shows, but have no guaranteed tickets. The performances are:
Thursday, July 29th @ 4:30 & 7:30 pm
Friday, July 30th @ 4:30 & 7:30 pm

Please let me know if you are interested as soon as possible. Like I said, I am guaranteed four tickets to the 4:30 pm show on Friday, and would need to know by the 20th. You can also purchase tickets through The Ailey School Website, however, I can't figure out exactly where to go to order tickets : /
It should be fun and exciting, so let me know if you want to come hang out with us in The City!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Miss you all!

This is the most fantastically wonderful movie I have ever seen. Truly magical! Especially in 3D.
